The Donut Pub at 203 West 14th Street

The colorful and mouthwatering selection of donuts is what lured me into this popular and very special dessert shop in Greenwich Village. Just one look in the window wanted to make me walk inside.

The unique logo

Walking into The Donut Pub is like walking into the donut version of “Willy Wonka’s”. There are just so many choices and all those delicious donuts scream “Buy me”! I have only been in The Donut Pub a few times, but I am hooked already. Just looking in the window makes me hungry.

The first time I passed the shop I was just taking a look at what was on display to see what they carried and this delicious and mouthwatering large flaky donut with a thick glaze and crisp bacon on top. I had to walk by twice before I convinced myself to walk in and buy one.

It seems that the Maple Bacon donut is one of their most popular and trust me, the $5.00 price tag will not be a deterrent at all. Just take one bit and the sweet and salty flavor combines in your mouth for a delightful savory taste. It takes smokey and sweet at the same time. It is also a rather large in size and takes a few big mouthfuls to finish.

The Maple Bacon Donut is so popular

The second time I walked in again it was decisions, decisions until I settled on a Black & White Boston Cream donut ($2.75). The top was the look of a traditional Black & White Cookie with a thick chocolate and vanilla icing and inside the sweet dough is a creamy vanilla filling that oozes out with every bite. The flavor of these donuts is just amazing.

There are so many flavors to choose from with jelly and cream filled, lemon and strawberry filled flavors and a selection of glazed, powered sugar- and sugar-coated donuts. All the donuts are so fresh and soft and chewy.

The selection is extensive and hard to choose from at The Donut Pub (The Donut Pub)

I have several more trips to make and more to write about in the future but take a visit to The Donut Pub and happy eating!

History of The Donut Pub:

(From The Donut Pub website)

After the first opening its doors on a cold and blustery December morning in 1964, The Donut Pub has come to represent New York City at its very best, brightest and most delicious.

Born and raised in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, owner, Buzzy Geduld, a Wall Street trader, actually started The Donut Pub with his brother after losing his first job as a quote boy on a trading floor. And it is from such humble beginnings that Buzzy learned the lessons that would serve him in all of his subsequent business endeavors. As he told Bloomberg News, “I learned how to run a brokerage firm from The Donut Pub.”

In May 2019, Buzzy and his daughter, Nancy, opened a second location on Astor Place, where you’ll find the same classic treats and some exciting new additions such as Gelato sourced from II Laboratorio del Gelato.

Whether it’s our out of this world maple bacon croissant donut or our black and white cookies, which one magazine called “the BEST” in the City. The Donut Pub has something for everyone. From old-fashioned classics like crullers and honey-dipped to modern favorites like Oreo rings. The Donut Pub is a treasure trove of tasty treats.

But don’t take our word for it. Come in, grab a stool along our marble counter and see for yourself.

(Just make sure you bring room for seconds!)
